Message from Pastor Scott on the History of Saint Michael Lutheran Church

I can hardly imagine what it was like back in 1835. But what I can imagine is the rich faithfulness of God's people, and their desire to seek and serve Him was just as powerful then, as it is still today, here at St. Michael.

God is amazing how He works through and in His people here; to be so committed in faith, love and hope, to watch the generations of families whose ancestors started or attended this church, continue to preserve the fundamental beliefs we still share today, that we find in the Holy Bible. God's Word has been preserved and we rejoice in sharing the Gospel with others throughout this community and throughout the World in our mission outreach efforts.

When I think of St. Michael and our past, present, and future, Philippians 1:6 comes to mind: "He who began a good work in you, will be faithful until completion." Our lives, a lot like this church when it was first constructed and first block laid, is much like our own lives. We found Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior (He became our cornerstone). We surrounded ourselves with other believers and began to worship and grow in God's Word (God's faithfulness in building and forming our lives just as the Church was built and formed). Still today, God's faithful continue to grow in God's never failing, never ending love...God remains faithful till completion (the day of His return).

We rejoice in this celebration of 175 years of ministry letting God's hope of salvation shine like the morning sun. But this celebration must never stop. We must continue to celebrate the Good News of Jesus, remain committed to serving His people, faithfully, till completion, and be a pillar of hope, strength, love and encouragement to all who seek His name.
